An issued conservation report is a documentary act. To preserve its evidential weight, the platform treats issued reports as immutable: the report you read tomorrow is the report that was issued today, unchanged. Where superseding work is required, a new revision is issued with documented reference to its predecessor.
Issuance
At issue, the report is fixed: text, observations, photographs, references and metadata are preserved as they stood at that moment.
Revisions
Where subsequent findings supersede earlier ones, a new revision is issued. The prior revision remains available for inspection.
Frequently asked
- Why not allow corrections in place?
- Corrections in place defeat the purpose of an issued document. A reader cannot tell whether the document they hold today is the document that was relied upon at the time of issue.
